Images are currently optimising the web store to improve their listing in the search engines. We had the task of benchmarking their current site, performing keyword research and modifying the paths, content and meta tags to make their site appear higher in the search engine results, which of course means more visitors to the site and consequently more sales. Our fist task was to find out just how well the site was doing in its present form so that we could assess how well our site optimisation was working. For this we chose to install one of the best analysis tools on the market - Google Analytics, a comprehensive (and previously expensive!) analytics tool that provides in depth information about site vistors and their browsing habits while on the tracked website. After installing and customising the reports for Google Analytics we were better equipped to benchmark the Geared 4 site and discover how well it ranked in the Google/Yahoo results for their chosen keyword terms. Following on from this analysis we then performed a series of searches using specialist software to discover actual daily keyword searches for the specific keywrods that the site was optimised for, as well as using additional software tools to suggest other related keywords and market sectors to target. The site was then upgraded with a specific module to generate search engine friendly URLs (SEF), following which we then installed custom meta tags on a per page basis and finally the content of specific pages was rewritten to provide a more search-engine friendly optimised environment. The combination of on-the-page optimisation has already begun to make a difference in the results for the SERPs (Search engine results pages) and we are currently performing a linking strategy on behalf of Geared 4 and running routine maintenance and optimisation procedures on an ongoing basis. Geared 4 continues to climb the search engines and the visitor ratio is already up compared to the previous month by 69% with the number of pages viewed up by 110%. |
