RSS Feeds

The best of the latest technologies; RSS Feeds are the next big internet explosion. Have a look at what the fuss is all about, and find some interesting RSS Feeds for inclusion on your web-site.

RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering summaries of regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed making these feeds available on demand to almost everyone.

RSS allows you to stay informed by retrieving summaries of the latest content from the sites you are interested in, giving you a host of benefits including:

  • Time saving: you save time by not needing to visit each site individually to access the information you need
  • Protection of your privacy: you ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter.

The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like Yahoo News and Amazon.com.

To be able to receive or 'read' the feeds you need a Feed Reader or News Aggregator software that will allow you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use.

Once you have your Feed Reader, it is a matter of finding sites that syndicate content and adding their RSS feed to the list of feeds your Feed Reader checks. Most participating sites display a small icon with the acronyms RSS, XML, or RDF to let you know a feed is available. We've listed a number of Feed Readers to get you started.
