WordPress 2.8 Baker Released

The new version of wordpress promises more streamlining, making it faster to use and easier to maintain. The addition of a Theme browser will be a welcome addition to those who cannot use FTP to upload files to their blog. Subtle changes to the admin allow for greater customisation of your admin interface and widgets are now even simpler to setup.

Joomla Security Release 1.5.11

Another patch has been released for the Joomla 1.5.x project. This does not affect sites running Joomla 1.0.x.

Joomla 1.5.11 release is out. Released, 03 June 2009 [Vea] as it is called includes numbers bug fixes and several security fixes. Users are strongly advised to upgrade their websites. This is much like keeping your Microsoft Windows software or Mac OSX up-to-date.

You can check what version Joomla you are using from any admin page – simply look at the top right of your screen to see the version number.

A worrying note from the security newsletter reads:

Joomla versions 1.5.0 – 1.5.9 contain a lot of security vulnerabilities that are in any script-kiddies backpack, and it’s just matter of time until they reach you.

For further information on how you can have the latest patch installed on your CMS please be sure to get in touch on the usual number. Clients that are currently on a support package have updates installed automatically.
