Our e-newsletter software is about to get a huge update
Posted by Gavin in Hints and Tips, Important Notice, Internet Marketing on July 7, 2011
The first thing you will probably notice is the new vertical split window. I’ve been using this version for a couple of weeks now, and it’s a huge improvement on the old horizontal split. Now you can see most or all of your email as you add content to it.
On top of the new layout, here are some of the exciting bits.
Put anything in a repeater
By far the biggest request for the editor was more flexible repeaters, and it was the first thing we built into this update. Now you can have a repeater with 6 images, no images, 5 titles, whatever you like. We can also add our own labels for each of these elements so you know what you’re updating.
What this really means for you is total design flexibility. We can now throw any template design at the new editor, and you can still easily add your content to it.
Design multiple layouts within the same repeater
This is probably my favorite new feature for the editor. Let’s say you want a repeater where an image is sitting on the right for the first item, but on the left for the second, then back on the right again. If we create a new template using the <layout> tag, you can easily have this feature in your email.
Add alt text to any images
Another shortcoming of the old editor meant you couldn’t add alternate text to any images added to their email content. Image blocking in many email clients makes alt text a valuable fallback when an image isn’t loaded and it’s now super easy for you to add or edit the alt text for any images they insert in their email.

We have waited for a while and still couldn’t get it right, but now Eureka – we’ve got it.
A new baby. Logo, that is.
It’s conception was less than immaculate and was the culmination of trying to distill the essence of the Images Group into a notable, memorable icon that would (a) look as if it represents the Images Group, works on Social media platforms, work as a designed QR code, be easily used as a favicon, is modern, won’t date and is ‘clever’.
Simples.
Nine months and many discarded attempts later, I think we have cracked it. Adding a new designer in the office has sparked a cascade of new ideas and between us we have come up with a logo that ecompasses all that we have tried to incorporate.
Here it is – the paint’s still wet, so don’t touch it!
We love the look, feel and functionality of the logo; but then we would – what’s your take?
