Facebook has made a lot of changes to user accounts lately and has certainly created a stir in the Social Media Networks.
Users are becoming more and more concerned about how their data is being used (abused?) and many have now started to delete their accounts to protect their personal data.
While this may be a bit on the extreme side, it is important that you are aware of the risks involved and just what your privacy settings might be on Facebook.
Bounding to the rescue has come http://www.reclaimprivacy.org
This website provides an independent and open tool for scanning your Facebook privacy settings.
Just visit the site and follow these simple instructions:
- Drag the ‘Scan for Privacy’ link to your web browser bookmarks bar
- Log in to facebook.com and then click that bookmark
- You will see a series of privacy scans that inspect your privacy settings and warn you about settings that might be unexpectedly public.
It seems to work really well and if you are suitbaly impressed, why not help out with the bandwidth costs by donating a few dollars to the project?
